Soldiers, Fire Trucks and a Yellow Car, oh my!
Spring …………love it!
Spring Festivals……………….love, love, love them.
The loveliness of spring is all around town and the Cottage on Greene,
despite the sad faces of the Azaleas damaged by the last punch of winter.
The prettiest little town in Dixie came alive this past weekend with visitors attending the Spring Festival.
My first ever
Antique Fire Truck parade…
As the fire trucks rolled out of town, gunfire erupted downtown.
It was the beginning of a reenactment of the 1865 invasion of General William Sherman and his troops.
The battles continued down to the river where soldiers had set up camp.
Yes! Women fought, on both sides, in the war.
Smoke from the just fired Cannon
Old St David’s Church built in 1770, was used as a hospital in both the Revolutionary War and the Civil War.
Our time at the festival ended with a tour of the classic and antique car show and a chance to sit behind the wheel of this restored 1950 Ford.
Sigh…………I love Spring Festivals!
